- For HPS street lights, the principle of dimming is to control the brightness of lamps by changing the resonant capacitance of high-frequency circuits. However, dimming may cause high-voltage arcs to form inside the lamp, thereby reducing the life of the lamp. Therefore, frequent dimming operations are not recommended.
- For LED street lights, the dimming technology can include PWM dimming, linear dimming, and direct digital dimming. PWM technology uses switching circuits for frequency modulation to adjust the brightness of LEDs. Linear dimming technology is based on linear circuits that accurately regulate voltage or current to achieve LED brightness adjustment. Direct digital dimming technology applies high-precision AD converters to achieve LED brightness control.
