Will Strawberries Grow in the First Year?

I just sowed strawberry seeds several days ago. I can’t wait to harvest them.

Grow? Yes. Bear fruit? Probably not.

Strawberries are a perennial crop rather than an annual one, they take several years to reach their maximum yield.

Even if they do manage to bloom their first year, it’s highly advised to pull off your flowers. Strawberries require a strong root system in order to yield effectively, so the energy that the plant uses for blossoms should be directed toward strengthening its roots.
