Are Grow Lights Safe For Humans?

Since the windows in my new apartment are all heavily shadowed, I recently bought a grow light for my plants. I've never owned a grow light before, so I'm a little worried about the negative effects on me with an LED grow light.

Generally speaking, yes. Grow lights are safe when used in the correct way.

But you should know that some grow lights can emit a lot of UV light (like the UVB lights), which can be dangerous for the eyes and skin and eventually cause cancer if exposed repeatedly. Additionally, grow lights can produce a lot of heat, which, if you’re not careful when caring for your plants while they’re turned on, can result in skin burns.

Therefore, if you need to tend to your plants while the grow lights are on, we advise either waiting until they have cooled down after being turned off or wearing protective hand and arm gloves to prevent skin burns.
