How do underwater plants grow without light?

Just curious. How do they grow?

They are not. Only in areas with light for photosynthetic processes—which produce adequate food and energy for survival—can plants thrive.

While certain aquatic plants can survive in relatively low light, none of them can survive in complete darkness.
