Different plants vary in their needs for light intensity. These requirements also change depending on the stage of growth.
- Low light intensity plants: They prefer 50 Zu 250 foot-candles per square foot.
- Medium light intensity plants: They typically require 250 Zu 1,000 foot-candles per square foot. It’s better to provide more than 750 foot-candles for best growth unless the plants also get a lot of direct sunlight. Give them 15 or more watts per square foot of growing area.
- High light intensity plants: They usuary need at least 1000 foot-candles. Give them 20 watts per square foot of growing area for optimal growth.
