How can you distinguish between an LED street lamp and a sodium street lamp?

I heard that out country is planning to change the traditional street lights into LED ones, but I cannot find any. What are the differences?

LED street lamps and sodium street lamps are different in color temperature, IRC, and illumination uniformity.

  • Temperatura de color: The LED street lamp usually has a higher color temperature than the sodium street lamp. So they look white most of the time, while sodium street lamps look yellow.
  • IRC: LED street lamps have a higher CRI than the sodium street lamp. So under LED light, you can see more clearly.
  • Uniformidad de iluminación: LED street lamps have a special light distribution design, making the light shine on the road uniformly. Some of the light from the sodium street lamp won’t shine on the road, causing energy waste.

Do LED street lights dim at night?

Leaving LED street lights on all night must cost a lot of energy. Is there any way to prevent the LED street lights from spending too much money? Por ejemplo, will the operator lower the brightness of the light at late night? Or do the lights turn dim automatically?
